Any of you that know Tessa, know what this means...time for another set of ear tubes. We visited the ENT today and he agreed that she needs to have a tube put in her ear. (One is still in from the last set that was put in.) Should be an easy enough appointment, right? Nothing comes easily here; here is a taste of what our daily lives are like:
- plugged in the ENT address in the GPS-thankfully, she knew where it was (not always the case)
- pulled into the parking lot and squeezed into a parking spot-no parking spot is made for a car bigger than a Yugo or Smartcar
- asked the receptionist where I go-she pointed me to the registration desk
- got registered and she sent me to the ENT office where someone else checked us in
- met with the dr.-who was well worth the 40 day wait (he's was great with Tessa)
- met with his asst. who gave me hospital info and forms to fill out....all in Dutch
- got lost trying to find the office where I had to make the surgery appt.
- found the office, made the appt. and then headed to another office to make the preop appt. (found it without getting lost-yes! score one for me)
- all in all, talked with 9 different people in 45 minutes
So as not to break with tradition, she will have surgery in Feb. for the third straight year. It will be on Feb. 4th in the morning and she should be back at school that afternoon. She was hoping the tube might be pink this time, but looks like blue is the standard ear tube color in Holland too.
