A wonderful, quick weekend to Barcelona, Spain!
When our taxi driver dropped us off on a side street off Las Ramblas and told us our hotel was 'just down there,' we peered down the dark alleyway and took his word for it. A few minutes later, there we were: 4 Americans with luggage, on a dark alleyway, trying to get into some random, unmarked doorway with the code we were given and having no success. A rocky start, but it all worked out great.

We spent our time walking around the city to the different Gaudi buildings, including Parc Guell, and Sagrada Familia. Sagrada Familia is an unfinished church that Gaudi worked on from 1883 to 1926. It is funded by donations, so progress is slow. It is expected to take another 50 years to complete it. The pictures don't do his artwork justice. We spent another day wandering around Poble Espanyol, a spanish village created for an International exhibit, that features local artisans and typical Spanish architecture.

Chris and I found an amazing tapas restaurant, Taverna Basca Irati, that had an array of tapas set out on the bar counter. You serve yourself whichever ones you want, all of them have a toothpick in them, and when it's time to leave, you bring your plate up to the register and they count your toothpicks. 2 euro/toothpick. Love this. The girls liked the mini hot dogs wrapped in crescent rolls-I'm sure this was only eaten by kids that were dragged there by their parents.
